PTC thermistors are used as temperature sensors when the positive linear portion of the R-T curve is processed with a specific range corresponding to the desired sensing range.

The same sensing range can also be used to compensate the effect of temperature change on electrical properties of the transistors.

PTC thermistors are used to detect overheating conditions in motor windings and other heat sensitive devices. A relay switch can be used in conjunction with the thermistor to deactivate the device at detection of overheat conditions. The PTC thermistors can be made to have trigger function within 1C of the rated temperature for the motor and a broad protection temperature is available upon request.
